The Phoenix girls' basketball team continues to show glimpses.
The Pirates gave both visiting North Valley and Henley early challenges in recent Skyline Conference contests at PHS. While Phoenix eventually fell to both (63-38 to Henley and 42-23 to North Valley), the Pirates are showing they can compete when things are going well.
PHS led in both games, scoring against overplaying man-to-man pressure from the Knights and Hornets. Eventually, the length of both teams took a toll.
Taylor DeVry scored 10 points while Bella Lopez and Giselle Perez-Hernandez added eight each in the loss to Henley. Delani Parent scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss to North Valley.
The Pirates (3-13 overall, 0-3 in conference play) visit Mazama on Friday night.
