When push came to shove, the Phoenix boys' basketball team found a way to deliver on Friday night.

The Pirates earned their first Skyline Conference win in the process, rallying to down visiting Hidden Valley 43-41. Back on the court four nights later against Henley, Phoenix dropped a 55-31 decision to the visiting Hornets.

Friday, Brennan Watts hit a trio of three-point baskets in the final quarter to key the victory. After trailing 9-0 after one quarter, the Pirates fought back and found themselves behind 30-28 at the end of three quarters. Watts found his range in the final frame to complete the rally.

Ethan Hutsell totalled 11 points while Kevin Botermans and Watts finished with nine each.

Tuesday against Henley, the Pirates were outscored 28-10 over the second and third periods. Phoenix trailed just 6-5 after one quarter.

Javan Gail's 12 points led the Pirates (4-12 overall, 1-2 in conference play), who head to Mazama on Friday night.
