The Phoenix volleyball team came on strong at the Cascade Invitational on Saturday.
PHS advanced to the championship game on its bracket, eventually finishing second. The Pirates defeated both Gladstone and Seaside before falling to Junction City in the title match. The tournament included 20 teams.
Phoenix returns to action Tuesday, hosting Sutherlin in non-league play.
